Time of year
For most couples, late spring and early autumn are the sweet spot: warm, sunny days without the fierce peak-summer heat, and venues at their most beautiful. The Costa del Sol enjoys a long season, so there is more flexibility here than in much of Europe.
- May to June: warm and gorgeous, averaging around 23 to 28°C, our most requested months
- September to October: long sunny days of roughly 24 to 29°C, with the sea at its warmest
- July to August: hot and lively, often 30 to 35°C, best planned with shade and evening timings
- November to April: mild coastal weather of around 15 to 20°C, great value and beautiful winter weddings
Time of day
The Spanish sun sits high and strong through the middle of the day, so we usually recommend a late-afternoon ceremony. It gives softer, more flattering light for your photographs, keeps your guests comfortable, and flows naturally into a sunset reception.
- Midday to 3pm: the hottest, brightest part of the day, often 30°C or more in summer with harsh overhead light
- 4pm to 6pm: our sweet spot, with the heat easing to a comfortable 25 to 28°C and warm, golden light
- Sunset onwards: romantic and relaxed at around 20 to 24°C, ideal for dining and dancing under the stars
Popular venues and suppliers book up well ahead, especially for weekends in peak season, so we recommend starting to plan twelve to eighteen months before your date where you can.
How much does a wedding in Spain cost?
The honest answer is that it depends on your guest numbers, your choice of venue and the style of celebration you have in mind, and we plan weddings across a wide range of budgets. Many couples find their money goes further in Spain than it would at home, particularly on catering, wine and beautiful settings.
These are broad guides only. Rather than quote a one-size-fits-all figure, we build a clear, itemised plan around your priorities, so you always know where your budget is going. Share your ideas with us and we will put together a tailored, no-obligation quote.
Getting legally married in Spain
Many international couples choose to complete the legal side at home and hold a symbolic ceremony in Spain, which gives complete freedom over where, when and how you marry. There are three main types of ceremony to choose from, and we will help you decide which is right for you.
Symbolic
Not legally binding, so you complete the legal marriage quietly at home first. This gives you total freedom over the location, the timing and who leads the ceremony, and it is the option most of our couples choose.
Civil
A legally binding marriage conducted in Spain by an authorised registrar or official. It comes with documentation and, in many cases, residency requirements that vary from region to region.
Religious
A church wedding, such as a Catholic ceremony, which is legally recognised in Spain. It involves liaising with the church in advance and preparing some additional paperwork.
Whichever you choose, the paperwork is nothing to worry about. We guide you through the options, help you gather and translate the right documents, and connect you with celebrants and officiants we trust. As requirements can change, we always confirm the current rules with the local authorities and recommend checking with your registrar or consulate before you finalise your plans.

Wedding in Spain: your questions answered
What is the most popular wedding location in Spain?
+
The Costa del Sol is comfortably the most popular, with Marbella at its heart. Its reliable sunshine, glamorous villas and beaches, and easy access through Málaga Airport make it a firm favourite with international couples. Andalusia more widely, along with Barcelona, Ibiza and Mallorca, is also much loved.
Which is the best location for a mountain view wedding?
+
For dramatic mountain backdrops, we love Ronda, perched above its famous gorge in the Andalusian hills, and the Sierra Nevada near Granada. The countryside around Mijas and the hills behind Marbella also offer beautiful elevated settings where you can have both sea and mountain views in one frame.
Which is the best location for a beach wedding?
+
The Costa del Sol is ideal, with Marbella, Estepona and Fuengirola offering stylish beach clubs and seafront venues. For something more exclusive, the beaches of Cádiz and Tarifa and the Balearic Islands of Ibiza and Mallorca are stunning. We match the beach to the look and level of privacy you have in mind.
Which is the best location for a castle or rustic wedding?
+
For rustic charm, the fincas, cortijos and haciendas of inland Andalusia, around Ronda, Seville and the Málaga countryside, are perfect. For castles and historic estates, Seville, Granada and Barcelona are full of palaces and castillos with real character and history.
Do we have to marry legally in Spain, or can we have a symbolic ceremony?
+
Both are possible. Many of our couples complete the legal marriage at home and hold a symbolic ceremony in Spain, which gives total freedom over the setting and style. A full civil marriage in Spain is also an option, and we guide you through the requirements either way.
How far in advance should we book our Spanish wedding?
+
We recommend twelve to eighteen months where possible, especially for weekend dates in peak season, as the best venues and suppliers book up early. That said, we regularly plan beautiful weddings and elopements on shorter timelines, so do get in touch whatever your date.
What is the best time of year to get married in Spain?
+
Late spring (May to June) and early autumn (September to October) are ideal: warm and sunny without peak-summer heat. The Costa del Sol has a long season, so winter weddings are lovely and excellent value too. We will help you choose the right month for your plans.
How much does a wedding in Spain cost?
+
It depends on your guest numbers, venue and style, and we plan across a wide range of budgets. Many couples find their money goes further than at home. We build a clear, itemised plan around your priorities and provide a tailored, no-obligation quote.
Can you plan our wedding if we live in the UK or Ireland?
+
Absolutely. Most of our couples plan from the UK and Ireland, and we make it effortless. We handle everything on the ground in Spain, arrange virtual and in-person viewings, and keep you updated at every step, so distance is never a barrier.
Which parts of Spain do you cover?
+
Our home is the Costa del Sol, including Marbella, Estepona, Mijas and Málaga, and we plan weddings along the coast and inland to Cádiz and Sotogrande. If you have a particular region in mind, just ask and we will let you know how we can help.
Do you help with the legal paperwork and translations?
+
Yes. We guide you through the documents you need, help arrange certified translations, and connect you with trusted celebrants and officiants. As rules can change, we always confirm current requirements with the local authorities before you finalise anything.
What exactly do you look after on the day?
+
Everything. We run the schedule, welcome and direct your suppliers, manage the timings and quietly solve anything that arises, so you and your guests can be fully present. Our goal is simple: for the day to feel effortless and joyful from start to finish.
