Huerta del Conde sits on the southern slope of Mount San Antón, a few minutes above the old centre of Málaga, and the first thing anyone says on arriving is about the view. The whole bay lies below you, the city curving away to the west, and in the evening the lights come on across it while the sun goes down behind the hills.
The estate runs to more than 80,000 square metres of botanical garden, planted with over 125 species, wrapped around a Mediterranean villa with Arab and Roman influences in its architecture. Palms, cypresses and ancient olives give shade and structure, and there is a saltwater pool cut into the terrace with the sea behind it.
This wedding venue suits couples who want somewhere genuinely grand but close to a city, and who like the idea of the celebration moving through the gardens as the day goes on: vows on the lawn, drinks by the pool, dinner on the terrace under the lights, and dancing indoors for as long as you like. There is no music curfew here.
The spaces
The Ceremony Lawn
An open lawn set above the bay, where the aisle runs towards a floral arch with the Mediterranean behind it. Seats up to 150 with the view doing most of the work.
The Gardens
More than 15,000 square metres of planting, with palms, cypresses and old olive trees. Room for a drinks reception to spread out, and endless corners for photographs.
The Pool Terrace
A saltwater pool cut into the terrace with the sea beyond it. Works beautifully for a standing reception of around 60 as the afternoon cools.
The Covered Terrace
Over 600 square metres of terracotta terrace, draped and strung with fairy lights and chandeliers for dinner. Seats around 80 under cover, with the bay in front of you.
The Villa
Three floors of Andalusian rooms with marble floors, arched windows and open fires, used for getting ready, for the intimate dining room, and for anyone who wants a quiet moment.
The Bar & Dancefloor
An indoor bar and dancing space with its own sound and lighting rig, which is what lets the party run on without troubling the neighbours.

Staying at Huerta del Conde
The villa sleeps 14, so the wedding party and close family can stay on the estate. Exclusive use is taken for a minimum of two nights, which gives you the evening before and a slow morning after.
The villa runs to three floors and a tower, with five bedroom suites plus a studio, seven bathrooms and rooms that open onto the terraces.
The master suite has a dressing room and a bathroom with arched windows over the sea. There is a junior suite and a double suite, a duplex in the tower with rooms on two levels, and a ground-floor studio suite with its own entrance, suitable for guests with reduced mobility. Downstairs there is a gym, and the library and drawing rooms give everyone somewhere to spread out.

Málaga city is minutes away and has hotels at every level, so larger guest lists are straightforward. We hold room blocks and arrange transfers to and from the estate.

Can we legally marry at Huerta del Conde?

Yes, the estate is licensed for legal ceremonies, so you can marry here for real rather than holding a symbolic blessing. There are also churches close by if you would prefer a religious ceremony. Marrying in Spain as a foreign couple involves paperwork that varies with nationality and residency, and we handle that side of it with you well ahead of the date.
How many guests can Huerta del Conde hold?

Up to 200 for a standing reception across the gardens and terraces, and up to 150 seated for a banquet in the gardens. The covered terrace seats around 80, the poolside suits a standing reception of about 60, and the villa's own dining room seats 12 for something small and formal. Ceremonies work from 10 guests upwards.
Is there a music curfew?

No. There is no music curfew and no closing time, which is unusual in Spain and one of the main reasons couples choose this estate. The indoor bar and dancefloor has its own sound and lighting system, so the party moves inside later in the evening. Fireworks are not permitted, to protect the gardens and the historic estate.
How far is it from the airport?

About twenty minutes from Málaga airport, which is one of the best-connected airports in Spain and makes life easy for guests flying in. Gibraltar is around eighty minutes by road if that suits your party better.
Can we bring our own caterer and suppliers?

Yes. The estate has caterers it recommends and works with regularly, but you are free to bring your own. The bar is licensed and there is no corkage charge. We can either work with the recommended list or source the whole team for you.
Where do our guests stay?

The villa sleeps 14, so the wedding party and close family can stay on the estate for the minimum two nights. Málaga city is minutes down the hill with hotels at every level, and there are several places within a few kilometres, from a €104 hostal to the Hotel Castillo de Santa Catalina at €237. We hold room blocks and arrange transfers.
What is the best time of year to marry here?

May, June, September and early October are the months we recommend most, when it is warm enough to be outside all evening without the peak of the summer heat. The estate faces south over the bay, so it catches the light beautifully through the afternoon and into the sunset. July and August are glorious but hot, and we plan around shade and a later ceremony.
What time should the ceremony be?

Late afternoon. The ceremony lawn is open and the Andalusian sun is at its hardest from about one o'clock until four, so an earlier start is uncomfortable for everyone. Marry at around five or half past and the light softens through drinks, dinner lands as the sun goes down over the bay, and the city lights come on behind you.
What is there for our guests to do nearby?

Málaga itself is minutes away, with the Picasso museum, the Alcazaba, the port and some of the best food in Andalucía. Closer to hand there is wine and olive oil tasting, horse riding, trekking in the hills behind the estate, spa days, yacht charter from the marina, cooking classes and tennis.
